There are millions
of people in China, but few are overweight. The Chinese are taught from childhood how to
eat the right foods and how to curtail their desire for it. If you are hungry, go
acu-pinch your ear, your Chinese friend may tell you. In Oriental medicine the ear is an
important organ having more than 200 points on it corresponding to the body systems. By
stimulating the hypothalamus, the area of the brain containing the appetite control center
and the vagus nerve, hunger is curbed and digestive secretions reduced. The vagus nerve
also communicates with the taste buds and salivary glands to alleviate hunger pangs and
give a feeling of being satiated.

According to Chinese medicine,
the ear resembles the inverted human fetus. It contains a network of therapeutic points
related to all parts of the body and internal organs. |
